Taste of Place

Our culinary approach is founded on well defined constraints and is centered on values that prioritize nurturing and authentic sustenance.

Aside from some basic staples like salt, citrus and olive oil, we use only what is grown or made in our local community and readily available.

We generally source goods that have been harvested within a few days of our event.

We source the best food available, as close as possible to our events.

This is taste of place. Terroir.

We are farmers at heart.

We see ourselves as the tip of the spear for the regenerative agricultural movement.

We believe in organic and humane practices that prioritize beings and Earth.

We know and have personally vetted the farms that we work with and the practices that they utilize.

This is beauty. If its not beautiful, we don’t cook it.  We feed you the way we feed our family.

We are fire keepers.

We believe that Fire is sacred and should be treated with respect. It provides a center point and gathering place for each event, as it always has.  It is the driving force behind our kitchen. It is our main ingredient. We use no other element to cook our food.

Menu Development

We create Menus from memories and meaning.

Our Menus come from your stories. Our creativity is born from inspiration.

We want to know your favorite restaurants, places you love to visit with friends and family.

How did you meet? What are you passionate about?

We believe food should spark joy and make your eyes light up.

We want your food to be memorable, meaningful, and unforgettable.

We love to have a light hearted and informal chat to get to know our clients.

We draw upon these conversations to develop a collaborative menu with you that is connected to your experiences, your dietary needs and your particular flavor profile.

Budget Overview

We are not per se a "wedding caterer”. We don’t do Standard Packages.

No matter the reason for the celebration, we choose to approach each event as completely unique.

We create an individual food offering, budget and menu for each gathering that reflects the locality, humanity and nature involved therein. 

We are Human centered.

We want to get to know you.

No matter the scenario or event, we like to start out by getting to know you and your vision for your event a bit better. 

We appreciate having a call to just chat and better understand how we might be of service. 

It is helpful to know your approximate food budget and head count ahead of time so that we can curate a budget and structure tailor made to your scope.

Budget Breakdown

Our budget breakdowns are essentially an “a la carte menu” of our offerings.

An outline of our most basic, foundational offerings, a place to start and something to stand from.

We will work with you to pick and choose what makes the most sense for your particular event and budget.

Our offerings are infinitely modifiable

That means, you can change, adapt, add or eliminate anything.

Add an extra side or appetizer.

Ask questions about other proteins that we offer…eliminate the entree altogether.

We do plated, buffet and family style.

Ask your Auntie to make dessert.

Have an ice cream truck for dessert or a food truck for your Welcome Party or Cocktail Hour.

We are totally open to collaborating with other vendors and family members.

Our Responsibilities

We provide a full service, integrated culinary experience, that includes both front and back of house.

Our Front of House team works in tandem with the Event Planner and the Client to ensure that all details are taken care of.

Communicate to the Event Planner and Client all necessary rental needs

Provide Front of House service throughout the culinary experience

Setup flatware, utensils, disposable napkins and water glasses on designated tables

Setup, manage, and break down water stations

After service, remove all flatware, utensils and water glasses

Scrape, rinse and replace all rentals according to Rental Company protocol

Setup and manage trash and waste throughout the event.

The Shepherd’s Hearth will source, hire and pay all FOH staff

Our Back of House team is a solid group of chefs, farmers and artists.

We are easy to work with and highly adaptable to each event’s unique needs and nuances in order to provide a consistent experience.

Establish a menu and event outline with the Client

Provide all necessary cooking apparatus, tools, coolers, handwashing stations, and firewood

Setup and breakdown Kitchen, clean up and remove all equipment

Carry all of the necessary licenses, liability insurance and permits for Catering the Event

Source, prepare, execute, and serve the agreed upon Menu (menu subject to change)

Execute event in accordance with the Event Plan and Timeline

The Shepherd’s Hearth will source, hire and pay all BOH staff
